| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |

| 7 | 8 | | ones of Harry Ben Adams III of San Antonio, who passed away on |

| 8 | 9 | | August 7, 2014, at the age of 70; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of Harry Ben Adams II and Dorothy Lyons |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Adams, Mr. Adams was born on August 12, 1943, in San Antonio; after |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | graduating from Edison High School, he attended San Antonio College |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and St. Mary's University, earning a degree from the university's |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | school of law; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Licensed to practice law in 1967, Mr. Adams began |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | his career in legal aid services, and he helped to take a landmark |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | case before the United States Supreme Court that eventually |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | overturned the Texas law denying the right to paternal support for |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | children born out of wedlock; he later established a law firm with |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | his friends while teaching real estate law courses at night; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Adams continued to develop his expertise over |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the years, specializing in consumer, real estate, and family law; |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | he went on to create an independent firm in Universal City, where |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | his strong reputation among municipal leaders won him the position |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | of city attorney; he additionally served as the staff attorney for |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the economic development corporations of Hollywood Park and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Windcrest and as an attorney for business magnate Red McCombs, with |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | whom he shared a close friendship; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Harry Adams's commitment to his community and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | profession was surpassed only by his devotion to his family; he |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | enjoyed a rewarding marriage of nearly five decades with his wife, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | the former Beverly Ball, and he took great pride in his children, |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Terra and Harry, and in his seven grandchildren; passionate about |

| 33 | 34 | | travel, Mr. Adams ventured with his wife to destinations as |

| 34 | 35 | | far-flung as Africa, Holland, Jerusalem, and Hawaii, and when at |

| 35 | 36 | | home, he enjoyed preparing gourmet dishes for friends and family; a |

| 36 | 37 | | man of devout faith, he was also a valued member of Community Bible |

| 37 | 38 | | Church; and |

| 38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Harry Adams |

| 39 | 40 | | will long remember his strength of character and generosity of |

| 40 | 41 | | spirit, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |
