 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Captain Don Tijerina of the Bexar County Sheriff's
 Office has been named national president of the Hispanic American
 Police Command Officers Association for the year 2015; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1973, HAPCOA is the oldest and
 largest association of Hispanic American command officers from law
 enforcement and criminal justice agencies at the municipal, county,
 state, and federal levels; and
 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Captain Tijerina
 received his bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University and
 went on to graduate from numerous other prestigious programs,
 including the FBI National Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement
 Training Center/HAPCOA Leadership Program, and the San Antonio
 Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Alex Briseno Leadership Development
 Program; he also proudly served for over 21 years with the Texas Air
 National Guard, retiring at the rank of master sergeant; and
 WHEREAS, Since joining the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in
 1992, this accomplished law enforcement professional has risen
 through the ranks and demonstrated impressive dedication and skill
 in a variety of different assignments; he has excelled in his
 responsibilities as commander of the Professional Standards and
 Integrity Division and has also distinguished himself in such areas
 as court security, criminal investigations, and criminal warrants;
 highly respected by his peers, he is very active in the Deputy
 Sheriff's Association of Bexar County and has served as president
 of the HAPCOA San Antonio chapter; and
 WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to his hometown,
 his profession, and his fellow officers, Captain Don Tijerina has
 become a prominent figure in the national law enforcement
 community, and he may take great pride in his outstanding record of
 service as he begins his new responsibilities as president of
 HAPCOA; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Don Tijerina on his
 installation as national president of the Hispanic American Police
 Command Officers Association and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for success in his new office; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Captain Tijerina as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
