| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Captain Don Tijerina of the Bexar County Sheriff's |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1973, HAPCOA is the oldest and |

| 9 | 10 | | largest association of Hispanic American command officers from law |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | enforcement and criminal justice agencies at the municipal, county, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | state, and federal levels; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Captain Tijerina |

| 13 | 14 | | received his bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | went on to graduate from numerous other prestigious programs, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | including the FBI National Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement |

| 16 | 17 | | Training Center/HAPCOA Leadership Program, and the San Antonio |

| 17 | 18 | | Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Alex Briseno Leadership Development |

| 18 | 19 | | Program; he also proudly served for over 21 years with the Texas Air |

| 19 | 20 | | National Guard, retiring at the rank of master sergeant; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in |

| 21 | 22 | | 1992, this accomplished law enforcement professional has risen |

| 22 | 23 | | through the ranks and demonstrated impressive dedication and skill |

| 23 | 24 | | in a variety of different assignments; he has excelled in his |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | responsibilities as commander of the Professional Standards and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Integrity Division and has also distinguished himself in such areas |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | as court security, criminal investigations, and criminal warrants; |

| 27 | 28 | | highly respected by his peers, he is very active in the Deputy |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Sheriff's Association of Bexar County and has served as president |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | of the HAPCOA San Antonio chapter; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to his hometown, |

| 31 | 32 | | his profession, and his fellow officers, Captain Don Tijerina has |

| 32 | 33 | | become a prominent figure in the national law enforcement |

| 33 | 34 | | community, and he may take great pride in his outstanding record of |
