| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas |

| 6 | 6 | | is pleased to recognize Becky Hammon, who has been selected for |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | induction on March 21, 2015, into the San Antonio Women's Hall of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Fame for her outstanding work in leadership in athletics; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since 1984, the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | annually honors those women who have contributed significantly to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the San Antonio community and the Bexar County region through their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of 15 years in WNBA, Becky Hammon |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | enjoyed a storied career, starting out as an undrafted rookie and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | going on to play in six WNBA All-Star Games, the Beijing and London |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Olympic Games, and was named one of the league's top 15 all-time |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | players in 2012; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2014, Becky Hammon continued defying all |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | expectations when the San Antonio Spurs hired her as the first |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | female full-time assistant coach in NBA history; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Becky Hammon's response to the groundbreaking |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | nature of her hire perfectly sums up the attributes that make her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | worthy for induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame: "I'm |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a little uncomfortable with people saying 'trailblazer' |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and this or |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | that, because I know somebody else blazed the trail for me to even |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | have the opportunity to play basketball. I never want to lose sight |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of the women who came before me and laid the groundwork for me to be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | able to walk through this door. If I can in some way make a path for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | somebody else to walk through-maybe it's your daughter or your |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | aunt-that's the bigger picture, and that's really what makes |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | everything all worth it"; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of |

| 34 | 34 | | Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Becky Hammon for her |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on her |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it |
