45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Students, faculty, and alumni of Baylor University
67 celebrated the dedication of the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium
78 on December 5, 2014; and
89 WHEREAS, This impressive athletic facility is able to
910 accommodate 5,000 spectators and participants and features an
1011 indoor practice area, a champions plaza recognizing former Baylor
1112 greats, and a state-of-the-art training facility, among other
1213 amenities; built at a cost of $18.1 million, the Clyde Hart Track
1314 and Field Stadium received generous financial support from a number
1415 of distinguished alumni; and
1516 WHEREAS, The stadium is named in honor of the longest-tenured
1617 coach in school history, Clyde Hart, who guided the Bears' track and
1718 field program for 42 years and currently serves as the university's
1819 director of track and field; under his leadership, Baylor teams and
1920 athletes have compiled 36 NCAA championships, 9 Olympic gold
2021 medals, and more than 600 All-American selections; and
2122 WHEREAS, The Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium pays tribute
2223 to an admired coach and demonstrates the school's commitment to
2324 athletic excellence, and it is a welcome addition to the Baylor
2425 University campus; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of the Clyde Hart
2728 Track and Field Stadium and extend congratulations to all those
2829 associated with its completion; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for the university as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
