5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Driscoll Independent School District is |

6 | 7 | | fortunate to benefit from the leadership of superintendent |

7 | 8 | | Dr. Cynthia M. Garcia and the district's board of trustees, whose |
---|
8 | 9 | | efforts to enhance the quality of education for area schoolchildren |
---|
9 | 10 | | are indeed worthy of recognition; and |
---|
10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Working alongside administrators, classroom |
---|
11 | 12 | | teachers, and parents, the superintendent and board of trustees |
---|
12 | 13 | | uphold the district's mission to empower students with the |
---|
13 | 14 | | knowledge and skills necessary to become responsible and productive |
---|
14 | 15 | | citizens; their collective responsibilities include setting policy |
---|
15 | 16 | | and ensuring the orderly operation of school facilities, with the |
---|
16 | 17 | | goal of fostering an optimal learning environment for all students |
---|
17 | 18 | | in the district; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Garcia and the trustees of Driscoll ISD preside |
---|
19 | 20 | | over a district that has earned repeated "Exemplary" ratings from |
---|
20 | 21 | | the Texas Education Agency; the district serves approximately 260 |
---|
21 | 22 | | students in prekindergarten through eighth grade, and at all grade |
---|
22 | 23 | | levels teachers strive to encourage a culture of college-readiness |
---|
23 | 24 | | and enthusiasm toward planning for the future; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A veteran educator with more than two decades of |
---|
25 | 26 | | experience, Dr. Cynthia Garcia began her tenure with the district |
---|
26 | 27 | | as an intermediate teacher in 1994; she took her current position as |
---|
27 | 28 | | superintendent of schools in 2006, and among her accomplishments in |
---|
28 | 29 | | this role was the recent passage of a bond proposal to finance a new |
---|
29 | 30 | | campus; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The Driscoll ISD school board is led by president |
---|
31 | 32 | | Veronica Ramon, vice president Johanna Schubert, and secretary |
---|
32 | 33 | | Cindy Lopez; members also include Gloria Olivarez, Lala Zuniga, |
---|
33 | 34 | | Vanessa Garcia-Silguero, and Anna Segura; and |
---|
34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Each of these dedicated professionals brings a |

35 | 36 | | wealth of insight and experience to her post, and they may take |
---|
36 | 37 | | well-deserved pride in their achievements and in the appreciation |
---|
37 | 38 | | that they have earned from members of the Driscoll community; now, |

39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Cynthia M. Garcia and the members of |

41 | 42 | | the Driscoll ISD Board of Trustees for their outstanding work and |

42 | 43 | | extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
