| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Residents of El Paso County benefit each day from |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Richard D. Wiles has ably guided the El Paso |

| 10 | 11 | | County Sheriff's Office since his election to that post in 2009; he |

| 11 | 12 | | previously gained valuable experience during a 25-year tenure with |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the El Paso Police Department, where he distinguished himself in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | numerous positions, including that of chief of police; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Raised in El Paso, this esteemed law enforcement |

| 15 | 16 | | professional holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from The |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | University of Texas at El Paso as well as a master's degree from Sul |

| 17 | 18 | | Ross State University; moreover, he is a graduate of the FBI |

| 18 | 19 | | National Academy, the FBI National Executive Institute, and the |

| 19 | 20 | | Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas; |

| 20 | 21 | | Sheriff Wiles has also shared his expertise as an instructor at El |

| 21 | 22 | | Paso Community College, Park University, and UTEP; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Wiles has demonstrated a steadfast |

| 23 | 24 | | commitment to making El Paso County an even better place in which to |

| 24 | 25 | | live and work, and in so doing, he has earned the deep respect and |

| 25 | 26 | | appreciation of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
