H.R. No. 1429
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Evadale High School girls' basketball team
enjoyed a memorable 2014-2015 season, claiming the district title
and advancing to the regional semifinals of the University
Interscholastic League 2A state playoffs; and
WHEREAS, The Lady Rebels put together an impressive winning
streak late in the year and went undefeated in league play to
capture the District 24 2A championship and earn a first-round bye
in the state playoffs; and
WHEREAS, Evadale opened the postseason against Carlisle High
School in a showdown for the area crown; the Lady Rebels jumped out
to a double-digit lead at halftime before pulling away in the second
half for a dominating 66-37 win; matching up with the squad from
Tenaha High School in the following round, Evadale proved up to the
task once more, recording a hard-fought 41-40 win; in the regional
semifinals, the Lady Rebels turned in another spirited performance
but ultimately fell to Hubbard High School to bring the year to a
close; and
WHEREAS, The notable success realized by the Lady Rebels
stemmed from their team-oriented approach to the game, with
valuable contributions coming from each member of the roster; these
talented student-athletes were guided by head coach Robert
Hollyfield, who inspired his players to perform at the highest
level; and
WHEREAS, Through skill, determination, and hard work, the
members of the Evadale High School Lady Rebels basketball team
proudly represented their school and community, and they are indeed
deserving of recognition for a job well done; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Evadale High School girls'
basketball team on its accomplishments during the 2014-2015 season
and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
