| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sylvia Hopp can take well-deserved pride in the |

| 7 | 8 | | community during her three-year tenure as superintendent of the San |

| 8 | 9 | | Elizario Independent School District; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A veteran educator with 40 years of experience, |

| 10 | 11 | | Ms. Hopp earned her bachelor's degree in education and her master's |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | degree in educational administration from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | El Paso; she began her career as a special education teacher for the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | El Paso Independent School District, where she later served as |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | assistant principal, principal, instructional consultant, director |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | of elementary personnel, and executive director; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Before becoming superintendent, she worked for San |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Elizario ISD as principal at Alarcon and Borrego Elementary Schools |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and as assistant superintendent for planning and instruction; she |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | went on to act as the district's interim superintendent before |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | being appointed superintendent on December 14, 2011, and assuming |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | her duties on January 2, 2012; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Through her unwavering commitment to San Elizario |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | ISD students and staff, Sylvia Hopp has led the way in fostering a |

| 24 | 25 | | supportive and challenging educational environment, one that gives |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | students a vision of what they might attain if they strive for |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | success and that equips them with skills that will help them to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | build fulfilling and productive lives; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor Sylvia Hopp, superintendent of the San |

| 30 | 31 | | Elizario Independent School District, for her admirable service to |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | her fellow citizens and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
