| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Those Texans who dedicate their time and talents to |

| 7 | 8 | | their actions and their example, and Uriel Posada of El Paso is one |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Mr. Posada |

| 10 | 11 | | graduated with a bachelor's degree in electronic media from The |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | University of Texas at El Paso in 1998; he subsequently began his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | career in journalism as a reporter in Albuquerque, and he later |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | returned to El Paso to work as a community partnership coordinator |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | for the Region 19 ESC Head Start program; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 2002, Mr. Posada was hired as a producer for a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Univision affiliate station in Denver, and four years later, he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | transferred to Univision 19 Sacramento in California, where he |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | served as executive producer and as interim news director; he |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | further distinguished himself as a producer for Voz y Voto, the only |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Spanish-language political television show in the state; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Posada once again settled in West Texas in 2010 |

| 22 | 23 | | when he was named news director of the Telemundo 48 newscast |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Telenoticias El Paso, and his many responsibilities there included |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | managing the program's style and content; today, he serves as news |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | director of Univision 26 El Paso, and the extensive experience and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | leadership he has brought to that position have garnered him |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | widespread respect and admiration; in addition to his professional |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | duties, he earned a master's degree in Latin American and border |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | studies from UTEP in 2012; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Posada has received |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | well-deserved recognition for his outstanding work in |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | broadcasting; he is the winner of three Emmy Awards, and he was |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | honored by the Hispanic caucus of the California State Assembly; |

| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his notable career, Uriel Posada has |

| 36 | 37 | | demonstrated unwavering commitment, boundless energy, and great |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | integrity in the service of his profession and his community, and it |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | is indeed a pleasure to honor him for his significant efforts in |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | behalf of the greater good; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 41 | 42 | | Legislature hereby commend Uriel Posada for his contributions to |

| 42 | 43 | | the El Paso community and extend to him sincere best wishes for |

| 43 | 44 | | continued success; and, be it further |
