5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Granados has rendered exceptional service as |

6 | 7 | | chief executive officer of the Baptist Immigration Center of Plano, |

7 | 8 | | and her contributions truly merit special recognition; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Granados graduated from the Commercial Academy |
---|
9 | 10 | | in 1991 and went on to attend Baptist University of the Américas in |
---|
10 | 11 | | San Antonio; in addition, she completed a paralegal training |
---|
11 | 12 | | program administered by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and |
---|
12 | 13 | | Catholic Charities of Dallas in 1999, and she has also received |
---|
13 | 14 | | extensive training in immigration law through a variety of seminars |
---|
14 | 15 | | and conferences; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In August 1994, Ms. Granados began volunteering at |
---|
16 | 17 | | the Baptist Immigration Center in McKinney, where she later held |
---|
17 | 18 | | the position of accredited representative after earning that |
---|
18 | 19 | | designation from the Board of Immigration Appeals in 2002; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She was named chief executive officer of the newly |
---|
20 | 21 | | established Baptist Immigration Center of Plano in 2006; over the |
---|
21 | 22 | | years, her wealth of knowledge and experience has greatly benefited |
---|
22 | 23 | | the nonprofit, which holds as its mission to assist individuals and |
---|
23 | 24 | | families with their legal immigration issues and to ensure equal |
---|
24 | 25 | | justice for immigrants from all walks of life; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Granados has further distinguished herself |
---|
26 | 27 | | through her involvement with the National Immigration Project, the |
---|
27 | 28 | | National Association of Professional Women, the DFW Defense |
---|
28 | 29 | | Committee, and the First Baptist Church of McKinney; moreover, she |
---|
29 | 30 | | has generously shared her expertise in behalf of numerous community |
---|
30 | 31 | | organizations, churches, schools, and universities; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Granados has demonstrated a steadfast |
---|
32 | 33 | | commitment to providing vital assistance to the immigrant |
---|
33 | 34 | | community, and in so doing, she has improved the lives of countless |
---|
34 | 35 | | families in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas; |

35 | 36 | | now, therefore, be it |

36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby commend Gloria Granados for her outstanding work |

39 | 40 | | Plano and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; |
