45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Gloria Granados has rendered exceptional service as
67 chief executive officer of the Baptist Immigration Center of Plano,
78 and her contributions truly merit special recognition; and
89 WHEREAS, Ms. Granados graduated from the Commercial Academy
910 in 1991 and went on to attend Baptist University of the Américas in
1011 San Antonio; in addition, she completed a paralegal training
1112 program administered by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and
1213 Catholic Charities of Dallas in 1999, and she has also received
1314 extensive training in immigration law through a variety of seminars
1415 and conferences; and
1516 WHEREAS, In August 1994, Ms. Granados began volunteering at
1617 the Baptist Immigration Center in McKinney, where she later held
1718 the position of accredited representative after earning that
1819 designation from the Board of Immigration Appeals in 2002; and
1920 WHEREAS, She was named chief executive officer of the newly
2021 established Baptist Immigration Center of Plano in 2006; over the
2122 years, her wealth of knowledge and experience has greatly benefited
2223 the nonprofit, which holds as its mission to assist individuals and
2324 families with their legal immigration issues and to ensure equal
2425 justice for immigrants from all walks of life; and
2526 WHEREAS, Ms. Granados has further distinguished herself
2627 through her involvement with the National Immigration Project, the
2728 National Association of Professional Women, the DFW Defense
2829 Committee, and the First Baptist Church of McKinney; moreover, she
2930 has generously shared her expertise in behalf of numerous community
3031 organizations, churches, schools, and universities; and
3132 WHEREAS, Gloria Granados has demonstrated a steadfast
3233 commitment to providing vital assistance to the immigrant
3334 community, and in so doing, she has improved the lives of countless
3435 families in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas;
3536 now, therefore, be it
3637 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3738 Legislature hereby commend Gloria Granados for her outstanding work
3839 as chief executive officer of the Baptist Immigration Center of
3940 Plano and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success;
4041 and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for Ms. Granados as an expression of high regard by the
4344 Texas House of Representatives.
