5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Carlos Hisa was elected governor of the Ysleta del |

6 | 7 | | Sur Pueblo in January 2015, and it is indeed appropriate to |

7 | 8 | | recognize his outstanding contributions to the tribe at this time; |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant, Mr. Hisa has been |

10 | 11 | | involved in tribal governance for nearly two decades; he served |
---|
11 | 12 | | as lieutenant governor beginning in 2002, and he continued in |
---|
12 | 13 | | that role for an unprecedented tenure of 12 years; among other |
---|
13 | 14 | | executive responsibilities, he directed the administrative |
---|
14 | 15 | | systems, enterprises, and programs of the pueblo; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hisa began his career as an administrative clerk |
---|
16 | 17 | | in the Contract Health Department; previously, he was a licensed |
---|
17 | 18 | | chemical dependency counselor for the Alcohol and Substance Abuse |
---|
18 | 19 | | Program, and in this role, he implemented innovative prevention and |
---|
19 | 20 | | intervention programs tailored largely to the needs of tribal |
---|
20 | 21 | | youth; and |

21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Committed to building the tribal nation while |

22 | 23 | | honoring its traditions, Carlos Hisa has greatly benefited the |

23 | 24 | | Ysleta del Sur Pueblo through his vision and leadership, and in so |

24 | 25 | | doing, he has earned the respect and appreciation of many; now, |

25 | 26 | | therefore, be it |

26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Carlos Hisa on his election as |

28 | 29 | | governor of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo and extend to him sincere best |

29 | 30 | | wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
