6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Nelda Modena Weathersbee of Waco reached |

7 | 8 | | this special milestone on February 15, 2015; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1915 to John Robert and Madie Vera |

9 | 10 | | Richardson in Frisco, this lifelong Texan lived in Dallas and |

10 | 11 | | Marlin before settling in Waco; and |
---|
11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, On May 28, 1932, she married Claude Harrison |
---|
12 | 13 | | Weathersbee, with whom she shared 50 years until his death in 1983; |
---|
13 | 14 | | the couple raised four daughters, Phyllis Yvonne Layne, Carolyn |
---|
14 | 15 | | Jeanette Lara-Baird, Armeda Ann Jost, and Teresa Wonnelle Place |

15 | 16 | | Weber, and the family has since grown to include five grandchildren |

16 | 17 | | and three great-grandchildren; and |

17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Weathersbee worked at a drug store and a |

18 | 19 | | supermarket before joining the staff of the Library Binding |

19 | 20 | | Company; she enjoyed a career there that spanned more than three |

20 | 21 | | decades and retired just prior to her 80th birthday; and |

21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ, |

22 | 23 | | Mrs. Weathersbee has written monthly columns for her church's |

23 | 24 | | newspaper for more than two and a half decades; she has also |

24 | 25 | | supported Haitian missionary efforts; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Meeting life's challenges with resilience, |

26 | 27 | | optimism, and determination, Nelda Weathersbee has gracefully |

27 | 28 | | reached the century mark and continues to enrich the lives of all |

28 | 29 | | who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |

29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
