| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lee and Susan Gammill of Marble Falls were honored |

| 7 | 8 | | Foundation at its second annual Gratitude Benefit in Dallas on |

| 8 | 9 | | February 28, 2015; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Entitled "Gratitude: A Celebratory Benefit for the |

| 10 | 11 | | PKD Foundation," the event raised money to fight PKD and recognized |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the Gammills and other individuals, families, and institutions for |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | their support in finding a cure; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This genetic condition causes clusters of cysts on |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the kidneys, eventually leading to loss of function; PKD is often |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | inherited, and Mr. Gammill, his grandfather, his father, and his |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | brother have all been diagnosed with the disease; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gammill's father, John Gammill, was an original |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | board member of what is now the PKD Foundation, and Mr. Gammill |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | himself has been involved with the organization for three decades; |

| 20 | 21 | | and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The family has endowed the John Gammill Professor in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Polycystic Kidney Disease at the Oklahoma University Health |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Sciences Center, and Mr. Gammill has continued to provide |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | additional support to the PKD Foundation; he also helped to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | encourage the U.S. Congress to pass the Genetic Information |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Nondiscrimination Act in 2008; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Along with the active support of his wife, Susan, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Lee Gammill has been a leader in the fight against this disease, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | the couple's commitment to this worthy cause indeed merits special |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby honor Lee and Susan Gammill for their |

| 33 | 34 | | outstanding efforts in behalf of the PKD Foundation and commend |
