R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Volunteers and supporters of Dress for Success
Corpus Christi celebrated the first anniversary of its founding on
January 29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Dress for Success Corpus Christi works to empower
women in the city and neighboring communities by providing them
with professional apparel and other forms of assistance, such as
interview training, as they seek to gain financial independence and
a rewarding career; the group is affiliated with the global
nonprofit Dress for Success organization, enabling its clients to
access a broad network of valuable programs and resources; and
WHEREAS, Executive director and cofounder Cathy Colomo
Riojas and cofounder Anna Flores have been instrumental in the
achievements of Dress for Success Corpus Christi to date; the
organization also benefits from the volunteers who help to
coordinate events and from those who generously donate clothing and
accessories; and
WHEREAS, During a promising first year, Dress for Success
Corpus Christi has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to help
area women reach their professional goals, and the group may take
justifiable pride in its notable work to change many lives for the
better; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dress for Success Corpus Christi on
its first anniversary and extend to all who are involved with the
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
