| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lieutenant Adrian Diaz of the Corpus Christi Police |

| 6 | 7 | | Department has deservedly been presented with a Life Saving Award |

| 7 | 8 | | for his heroic actions in the line of duty; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On November 4, 2014, Lieutenant Diaz responded to a |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | 9-1-1 call about a man who was found unconscious in his truck; the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | man's companion had begun performing CPR to restore his breathing |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | and heartbeat, and after arriving on the scene, Lieutenant Diaz |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | joined him and another officer, Bob Dorsch, in administering chest |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | compressions and rescue breathing to keep the victim alive; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Although the victim remained unresponsive, the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | three men continued their efforts until paramedics could reach them |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and transport the man to a hospital; miraculously, the victim |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | survived, which emergency personnel credited to their early and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | sustained attempts to resuscitate him; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In a crisis situation, Lieutenant Adrian Diaz |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | remained calm and implemented the skills he had learned in his |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | training, and in so doing, he helped to save the life of a fellow |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Texan in need; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby recognize Lieutenant Adrian Diaz on his receipt |

| 25 | 26 | | of the Life Saving Award from the Corpus Christi Police Department |

| 26 | 27 | | and extend to him sincere appreciation for his admirable public |
