| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Sandra Lee Anderson |

| 6 | 7 | | have suffered a deep loss with the passing of this beloved woman on |

| 7 | 8 | | March 7, 2015, at the age of 67; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Richwood, West Virginia, Mrs. Anderson |

| 9 | 10 | | was born to Charles and Glendine Sears on August 22, 1947; she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | graduated from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York, in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 1966; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, After moving to Texas, the former Sandy Sears |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | married Charles "Doc" Anderson on August 21, 1981; sharing with him |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | a love of animals, she played a key role in the management and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | operation of his clinic, Anderson Veterinary Hospital, and in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | running Top Notch Ranch as well; she was also involved in many |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | aspects of her husband's campaigns for the Texas House of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Representatives; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Intensely engaged in civic life, Mrs. Anderson held |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | nearly every office in the McLennan County Republican Women, at one |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | time or another, and she was also a member of the McLennan County |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Republican Club; she gave generously of her time and talents to the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo and was staunchly supportive of other |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | community organizations; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Sustained by her strong religious faith, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Mrs. Anderson demonstrated tremendous courage and grace over the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | course of a 28-year struggle with multiple myeloma; after suffering |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | a fracture of her right arm, owing to her illness, she dismissed her |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | doctor's opinion that her bowling days were over and instead |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | developed a left-handed delivery; an avid and accomplished bowler, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | she competed with her team, the Byrd House, for more than a |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | quarter-century at the local, state, and national levels; in |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | addition, she was an ardent football fan and cheered |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | enthusiastically for both the Texas A&M Aggies and the Dallas |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | Cowboys; and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Sandy Anderson was a source of joy and inspiration |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | to many, and she has left an indelible imprint on the hearts of |

| 38 | 39 | | those who were blessed to know her; now, therefore, be it |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sandra Lee Anderson |
