| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, By joining together in this important initiative, |

| 10 | 11 | | participants are raising awareness of crime and drug prevention |

| 11 | 12 | | strategies and encouraging support for anticrime programs while |

| 12 | 13 | | strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | partnerships; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1984, National Night Out has |

| 15 | 16 | | grown to include more than 37 million people in the United States |

| 16 | 17 | | and Canada, and each year, Texans show their support through a |

| 17 | 18 | | variety of activities around the state; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Methodist Dallas Medical Center event provides |

| 19 | 20 | | an opportunity for hospital staff and area residents to educate |

| 20 | 21 | | themselves about crime prevention and to reaffirm their commitment |

| 21 | 22 | | to making their community an even safer place in which to live and |
