R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sanah Jivani of Spring has been named a
Distinguished Finalist in the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community
Awards program, earning recognition as one of the top youth
volunteers in Texas; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by Prudential Financial and the National
Association of Secondary School Principals, the Spirit of Community
Awards honor young people in middle school and high school who
demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to serving their
communities; this year, more than 30,000 teens from across the
nation were considered for recognition; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Klein Collins High School, Ms. Jivani
founded International Natural Day, a celebration of people's
natural selves that seeks to affirm each person's uniqueness and to
promote self-confidence; she launched the initiative after
struggling with medical hair loss; determined to help others
overcome similar challenges, this talented young Texan has helped
to spread the message of Natural Day to schools in the United States
and across the globe, and she maintains a website with encouraging
stories and helpful information; and
WHEREAS, Sanah Jivani has demonstrated remarkable initiative
and determination in the pursuit of a selfless goal, and she is a
source of inspiration to all who are privileged to know her; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sanah Jivani on being named a
Distinguished Finalist in the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community
Awards program and extend to her sincere best wishes in all her
future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Jivani as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
