45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Mary Sue Cole retired as Hunt County Extension agent
67 for family and consumer sciences on December 31, 2014, drawing to a
78 close an outstanding career with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension
89 Service; and
910 WHEREAS, After attending Texas Woman's University, where she
1011 earned a degree in vocational home economics education, Ms. Cole
1112 joined Hunt County Extension in 1968 as a 4-H agent; she went on to
1213 work as an Extension agent at-large for Rains, Camp, Delta, and
1314 Franklin Counties before returning to Hunt County in 1989; and
1415 WHEREAS, In her role as Hunt County Extension agent for
1516 family and consumer sciences, Ms. Cole provided practical
1617 information about such topics as health, child raising, money
1718 management, and housing and the environment, while also assisting
1819 with efforts related to economic and community development; for a
1920 number of years, her work included writing two weekly columns for
2021 the Herald-Banner, a Hunt County newspaper, which garnered a
2122 devoted following; her "Food For Thought" column offered recipes
2223 and nutritional advice, while "Good Ideas" focused on news about
2324 AgriLife Extension Service activities in the area; during her time
2425 with the Hunt County Extension office, Ms. Cole also served as the
2526 group's county coordinator, with responsibility for leading
2627 program development and overseeing office operations; and
2728 WHEREAS, Ms. Cole plans to enjoy her retirement by spending
2829 more time with her husband of more than 40 years, Tom Cole, and by
2930 painting, writing, and possibly consulting; and
3031 WHEREAS, Mary Sue Cole's wide-ranging knowledge and
3132 commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of
3233 Hunt County, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well
3334 spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now,
3435 therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Sue Cole on her retirement
3738 from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and that she be
3839 extended sincere best wishes for continued happiness and success;
3940 and, be it further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for Ms. Cole as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4243 House of Representatives.
