5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mary Sue Cole retired as Hunt County Extension agent |

6 | 7 | | for family and consumer sciences on December 31, 2014, drawing to a |

7 | 8 | | close an outstanding career with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension |

8 | 9 | | Service; and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After attending Texas Woman's University, where she |
---|
10 | 11 | | earned a degree in vocational home economics education, Ms. Cole |
---|
11 | 12 | | joined Hunt County Extension in 1968 as a 4-H agent; she went on to |
---|
12 | 13 | | work as an Extension agent at-large for Rains, Camp, Delta, and |
---|
13 | 14 | | Franklin Counties before returning to Hunt County in 1989; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In her role as Hunt County Extension agent for |
---|
15 | 16 | | family and consumer sciences, Ms. Cole provided practical |
---|
16 | 17 | | information about such topics as health, child raising, money |
---|
17 | 18 | | management, and housing and the environment, while also assisting |
---|
18 | 19 | | with efforts related to economic and community development; for a |
---|
19 | 20 | | number of years, her work included writing two weekly columns for |
---|
20 | 21 | | the Herald-Banner, a Hunt County newspaper, which garnered a |
---|
21 | 22 | | devoted following; her "Food For Thought" column offered recipes |
---|
22 | 23 | | and nutritional advice, while "Good Ideas" focused on news about |
---|
23 | 24 | | AgriLife Extension Service activities in the area; during her time |
---|
24 | 25 | | with the Hunt County Extension office, Ms. Cole also served as the |
---|
25 | 26 | | group's county coordinator, with responsibility for leading |
---|
26 | 27 | | program development and overseeing office operations; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Cole plans to enjoy her retirement by spending |
---|
28 | 29 | | more time with her husband of more than 40 years, Tom Cole, and by |
---|
29 | 30 | | painting, writing, and possibly consulting; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Mary Sue Cole's wide-ranging knowledge and |
---|
31 | 32 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |
---|
32 | 33 | | Hunt County, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
---|
33 | 34 | | spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, |

34 | 35 | | therefore, be it |

35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Sue Cole on her retirement |

38 | 39 | | extended sincere best wishes for continued happiness and success; |
