| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Rafael Gomez has earned the great esteem of members |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Elected to the Pueblo's governing body on December |

| 9 | 10 | | 31, 2012, Mr. Gomez held the traditional position of capitan for |

| 10 | 11 | | three years and has actively served the Tiwa Language Committee and |

| 11 | 12 | | the Tigua Community Garden; a board member of the Tigua Inc. |

| 12 | 13 | | Development Corporation, he is also a member of the tribe's |

| 13 | 14 | | Economic Development Advisory Committee and Higher Education |

| 14 | 15 | | Committee, as well as a supporter of the Native American Graves |

| 15 | 16 | | Protection and Repatriation Act; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gomez is a graduate of Ysleta High School and a |

| 17 | 18 | | lifelong resident of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Reservation; |

| 18 | 19 | | currently, he is employed as sweepstakes technician manager for the |

| 19 | 20 | | Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, a Tigua-owned business; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Heir to a proud culture, Rafael Gomez is helping to |

| 21 | 22 | | preserve the vital traditions and values of the Pueblo while |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | working to enhance the quality of life for its people, and he is |

| 23 | 24 | | indeed deserving of the trust that has been placed in him by members |

| 24 | 25 | | of his community; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby honor Rafael Gomez for his service on the Tribal |
