45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Robstown Area Historical Museum is dedicated to
67 preserving a rich cultural heritage that spans more than a century;

89 WHEREAS, Founded on February 11, 1996, by the Reverend Inez
910 Ramon and Dusty Knoblauch, the museum is housed in the former
1011 Bosquez Grocery Store at Main Avenue and Second Street; the
1112 building was donated by Dr. Roberto Bosquez and Ninfa Bosquez,
1213 whose parents once owned and operated the store, and generous local
1314 residents have provided a variety of possessions that teach
1415 visitors about Robstown's past; in 2012, Angelica Tijerina Taylor,
1516 a retired teacher and Robstown High School graduate, gave $10,000
1617 to the museum, and in 2014, the institution received a major
1718 donation from the City of Robstown and generous grants from the
1819 Nueces County Commissioners Court, the Coastal Bend Community
1920 Foundation, and friends and family of museum cofounder Dusty
2021 Knoblauch; and
2122 WHEREAS, Among the museum's holdings are many items that
2223 testify to the importance of agriculture in early Robstown,
2324 including an antique plow and a machine used to separate onions in
2425 the 1920s; African American history is reflected in the volume of
2526 information compiled by the Mays family, who are thought to be the
2627 town's first African American residents; in addition, vintage
2728 yearbooks, old photographs, and other memorabilia chronicle life in
2829 the 20th century; and
2930 WHEREAS, Citizens of Robstown take great pride in their
3031 community, and this noteworthy museum holds many treasured
3132 artifacts that serve to inform and enlighten residents and visitors
3233 alike about the city's fascinating history; now, therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby honor the Robstown Area Historical Museum and
3536 extend to all those associated with the institution sincere best
3637 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for the museum as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3940 House of Representatives.
