| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Brian T. Binggeli has been selected to serve as |

| 6 | 7 | | the new superintendent of the Plano Independent School District, |

| 7 | 8 | | and he is scheduled to assume that post in July 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A skilled administrator with more than 30 years of |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | experience in education, Dr. Binggeli has served since 2009 as |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | superintendent of Brevard Public Schools, a district in Florida |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | consisting of more than 73,000 students at over 90 campuses and 20 |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | special centers; he was previously a member of the leadership team |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | of one of the nation's largest school districts, Fairfax County |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Public Schools in Falls Church, Virginia, where he served as |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Cluster IV assistant superintendent, with programmatic |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | responsibility for 29 schools and 22,000 students; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Brian Binggeli graduated from Miami University in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Oxford, Ohio, and went on to complete his master's degree at |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Virginia State University and his doctorate in educational |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | leadership and policy studies at Virginia Tech University; he began |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | teaching in Ohio in 1981 and later served as a teacher, coach, and |

| 22 | 23 | | principal in Virginia before becoming director of middle education |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and then executive director of curriculum and instruction for |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Spotsylvania County Schools; in addition, he has been an adjunct |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | professor in the Virginia Tech Educational Leadership and Policy |

| 26 | 27 | | Studies doctoral program and in the University of Virginia |

| 27 | 28 | | administrative licensure program; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous accolades, Dr. Binggeli |

| 29 | 30 | | was recognized with the 2011 Florida Star Superintendent Award by |

| 30 | 31 | | the Consortium of Florida Education Foundation, and he was named |

| 31 | 32 | | the 2002 Outstanding Middle School Principal of Virginia by the |

| 32 | 33 | | Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals; moreover, he |

| 33 | 34 | | was selected as the Henrico County Public Schools Instructional |

| 34 | 35 | | Leader of the Year for 2000; and |

| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his long and distinguished career |

| 36 | 37 | | in education, Brian Binggeli has demonstrated an exceptional |

| 37 | 38 | | commitment to improving student achievement, and Plano ISD is |

| 38 | 39 | | indeed fortunate to have the benefit of his vision and expertise; |

| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 41 | 42 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Brian Binggeli on his |

| 43 | 44 | | District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
