5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Mesquite are visiting the |

6 | 7 | | State Capitol on March 31 and April 1, 2015, and the occasion |

7 | 8 | | provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, |

9 | 10 | | Leadership Mesquite strives to educate civic-minded individuals |

10 | 11 | | about city, county, and state government; the course lasts nine |
---|
11 | 12 | | months and involves citizens who represent a wide range of |
---|
12 | 13 | | backgrounds and perspectives; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Mesquite works in cooperation with such |
---|
14 | 15 | | entities as the Mesquite Economic Development Board, Dallas County |
---|
15 | 16 | | Commissioners Court, Mesquite Independent School District, and |
---|
16 | 17 | | Eastfield College to sponsor different programs every month to help |
---|
17 | 18 | | members gain a better understanding of the community; moreover, |
---|
18 | 19 | | each class chooses a special project to support, and this year, the |
---|
19 | 20 | | group is sponsoring Texas Mission of Mercy, a mobile dental clinic |
---|
20 | 21 | | that treats uninsured Texans free of charge; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of |

22 | 23 | | volunteerism and community pride, Leadership Mesquite is fostering |

23 | 24 | | an informed and engaged citizenry, and the program is helping to |
---|
24 | 25 | | build a brighter and more prosperous future for the Lone Star State; |

27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 31 and April 1, 2015, as |
