No. 1567 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For more than 50 years, Dr. Enrique Trapp has distinguished himself through his exceptional work as a physician, and his efforts have touched the lives of generations of patients in South Texas; and WHEREAS, Raised in Guatemala, Enrique Trapp attended medical school in Mexico City and began practicing in the United States in 1958, when he was hired as a staff physician at the East Texas Tuberculosis Hospital in Tyler; he went on to work at the state tuberculosis hospital in San Antonio before becoming the clinical director of South Texas Hospital in Harlingen in 1961; and WHEREAS, Since that time, this esteemed professional has played an integral role in the operations and development of South Texas Hospital, which eventually merged with the nearby Rio Grande State Center; he has used his wealth of knowledge and experience to provide the best quality of care to his patients, some of whom are the children and grandchildren of people he has treated in the past; he also established a private practice in internal medicine that he maintained from 1970 until 1990; and WHEREAS, Although Dr. Trapp initially retired in 1993, he returned to work after only six months out of a desire to continue studying and serving individuals with diabetes; he assumed part-time status with Rio Grande State Center in 2012, and his expertise remains sought after by patients as well as colleagues many years his junior; and WHEREAS, Dr. Enrique Trapp is held in the highest esteem by all those he has encountered throughout his remarkable career in medicine, and he may reflect with pride on his achievements, which have made a difference in the lives of so many; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby honor Dr. Enrique Trapp for his contributions over more than half a century as a physician and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Trapp as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
