5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For more than 50 years, Dr. Enrique Trapp has |

6 | 7 | | distinguished himself through his exceptional work as a physician, |

7 | 8 | | and his efforts have touched the lives of generations of patients in |

8 | 9 | | South Texas; and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Raised in Guatemala, Enrique Trapp attended medical |
---|
10 | 11 | | school in Mexico City and began practicing in the United States in |
---|
11 | 12 | | 1958, when he was hired as a staff physician at the East Texas |
---|
12 | 13 | | Tuberculosis Hospital in Tyler; he went on to work at the state |
---|
13 | 14 | | tuberculosis hospital in San Antonio before becoming the clinical |
---|
14 | 15 | | director of South Texas Hospital in Harlingen in 1961; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Since that time, this esteemed professional has |
---|
16 | 17 | | played an integral role in the operations and development of South |
---|
17 | 18 | | Texas Hospital, which eventually merged with the nearby Rio Grande |
---|
18 | 19 | | State Center; he has used his wealth of knowledge and experience to |
---|
19 | 20 | | provide the best quality of care to his patients, some of whom are |
---|
20 | 21 | | the children and grandchildren of people he has treated in the past; |
---|
21 | 22 | | he also established a private practice in internal medicine that he |
---|
22 | 23 | | maintained from 1970 until 1990; and |

23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Although Dr. Trapp initially retired in 1993, he |

24 | 25 | | returned to work after only six months out of a desire to continue |
---|
25 | 26 | | studying and serving individuals with diabetes; he assumed |
---|
26 | 27 | | part-time status with Rio Grande State Center in 2012, and his |
---|
27 | 28 | | expertise remains sought after by patients as well as colleagues |
---|
28 | 29 | | many years his junior; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Enrique Trapp is held in the highest esteem by |

30 | 31 | | all those he has encountered throughout his remarkable career in |

31 | 32 | | medicine, and he may reflect with pride on his achievements, which |

32 | 33 | | have made a difference in the lives of so many; now, therefore, be |

34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Enrique Trapp for his contributions |
