| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Lisa Merka of Trout |

| 6 | 7 | | Creek were deeply saddened by her untimely passing on January 6, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2015, at the age of 50; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Kirbyville area, Ms. Merka was an |

| 9 | 10 | | active and valued member of her community; in addition to directing |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the local chamber of commerce, she contributed to her congregation |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | at First Assembly of God Church, where she taught children's |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | classes and volunteered to assist with a number of vital projects; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | she was employed by CHRISTUS Jasper Memorial Hospital, and she |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | earned the admiration of her colleagues for the compassionate care |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | she provided; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Merka shared a rewarding marriage with her |

| 17 | 18 | | husband, Travis, with whom she raised two sons, Ivan and Randy; |

| 18 | 19 | | through the years, she was further blessed with a daughter-in-law, |

| 19 | 20 | | Ashley, and she became the beloved "MaMaw" of two grandchildren, |

| 20 | 21 | | Autumn and Kayden; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Lisa Merka lived her life with enthusiasm and joy, |

| 22 | 23 | | and though her journey on this earth ended far too soon, memories of |

| 23 | 24 | | her faith, warmth, and service to others will continue to comfort |

| 24 | 25 | | and inspire all those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lisa Merka and extend |
