5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Robert L. McDonald has stepped down as |

6 | 7 | | superintendent of the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene, after |

7 | 8 | | nearly a decade of dedicated service; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1955 in Knoxville, Iowa, to Frank and |

9 | 10 | | Davidene McDonald, Rob McDonald graduated from Chariton Community |
---|
10 | 11 | | High School in 1973; he attended MidAmerica Nazarene College, where |
---|
11 | 12 | | he earned his bachelor's degree in religion, and he later completed |
---|
12 | 13 | | his master's degree in human relations at the University of |
---|
13 | 14 | | Oklahoma; he was awarded a doctor of divinity degree from Southern |
---|
14 | 15 | | Nazarene University; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. McDonald began his notable career in the |
---|
16 | 17 | | ministry as a youth pastor at Des Moines First Church of the |
---|
17 | 18 | | Nazarene and at First Church of the Nazarene in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, |
---|
18 | 19 | | before serving as pastor of congregations in Oklahoma, South |
---|
19 | 20 | | Dakota, and Illinois; he was chosen to lead the Mississippi |
---|
20 | 21 | | District Church of the Nazarene in 2000, and five years later he |
---|
21 | 22 | | assumed the duties of superintendent for the Dallas District Church |
---|
22 | 23 | | of the Nazarene; and |
---|
23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Since 2005, Dr. McDonald has provided inspiring |
---|
24 | 25 | | leadership and valued counsel to fellow pastors and worshippers |
---|
25 | 26 | | across the Dallas District; a passionate advocate for Cowboy Church |
---|
26 | 27 | | evangelism and formation, he has overseen the establishment of 10 |
---|
27 | 28 | | thriving Cowboy Church congregations during his outstanding |
---|
28 | 29 | | tenure; upon leaving his post as district superintendent, he will |
---|
29 | 30 | | take over as senior pastor for the Lone Star Cowboy Church of |
---|
30 | 31 | | McLennan and Hill Counties; and |
---|
31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has further benefited his |
---|
32 | 33 | | church organization as a member of the board of Southern Nazarene |
---|
33 | 34 | | University and as a member of the District Superintendents Action |
---|
34 | 35 | | Committee and the Nazarene Organic Church Network; in addition, he |
---|
35 | 36 | | is the current chair of the Nazarene Cowboy Church Network; and |
---|
36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. McDonald enjoys the love |
---|
37 | 38 | | and support of a fine family, which includes his wife, Sue, his |
---|
38 | 39 | | daughters, Melissa Ferrer and her husband, Mitchell, and Meagan |
---|
39 | 40 | | Sprang and her husband, Jonathan, and his five grandchildren, |
---|
40 | 41 | | Abigail, Isaiah, and Isaac Ferrer, and Jacob and Ezekiel Sprang; |

42 | 43 | | WHEREAS, Rob McDonald has worked diligently in behalf of his |

43 | 44 | | faith, providing comfort and spiritual guidance, while proving |
---|
44 | 45 | | himself to be a wise and trusted leader, and he is indeed deserving |

45 | 46 | | of special recognition as he begins his new mission of pastoral |

46 | 47 | | service; now, therefore, be it |

47 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

48 | 49 | | Legislature hereby commend Dr. Robert McDonald on his achievements |

49 | 50 | | as superintendent of the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene and |

50 | 51 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
