45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Dr. Robert L. McDonald has stepped down as
67 superintendent of the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene, after
78 nearly a decade of dedicated service; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in 1955 in Knoxville, Iowa, to Frank and
910 Davidene McDonald, Rob McDonald graduated from Chariton Community
1011 High School in 1973; he attended MidAmerica Nazarene College, where
1112 he earned his bachelor's degree in religion, and he later completed
1213 his master's degree in human relations at the University of
1314 Oklahoma; he was awarded a doctor of divinity degree from Southern
1415 Nazarene University; and
1516 WHEREAS, Dr. McDonald began his notable career in the
1617 ministry as a youth pastor at Des Moines First Church of the
1718 Nazarene and at First Church of the Nazarene in Sapulpa, Oklahoma,
1819 before serving as pastor of congregations in Oklahoma, South
1920 Dakota, and Illinois; he was chosen to lead the Mississippi
2021 District Church of the Nazarene in 2000, and five years later he
2122 assumed the duties of superintendent for the Dallas District Church
2223 of the Nazarene; and
2324 WHEREAS, Since 2005, Dr. McDonald has provided inspiring
2425 leadership and valued counsel to fellow pastors and worshippers
2526 across the Dallas District; a passionate advocate for Cowboy Church
2627 evangelism and formation, he has overseen the establishment of 10
2728 thriving Cowboy Church congregations during his outstanding
2829 tenure; upon leaving his post as district superintendent, he will
2930 take over as senior pastor for the Lone Star Cowboy Church of
3031 McLennan and Hill Counties; and
3132 WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has further benefited his
3233 church organization as a member of the board of Southern Nazarene
3334 University and as a member of the District Superintendents Action
3435 Committee and the Nazarene Organic Church Network; in addition, he
3536 is the current chair of the Nazarene Cowboy Church Network; and
3637 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. McDonald enjoys the love
3738 and support of a fine family, which includes his wife, Sue, his
3839 daughters, Melissa Ferrer and her husband, Mitchell, and Meagan
3940 Sprang and her husband, Jonathan, and his five grandchildren,
4041 Abigail, Isaiah, and Isaac Ferrer, and Jacob and Ezekiel Sprang;
4142 and
4243 WHEREAS, Rob McDonald has worked diligently in behalf of his
4344 faith, providing comfort and spiritual guidance, while proving
4445 himself to be a wise and trusted leader, and he is indeed deserving
4546 of special recognition as he begins his new mission of pastoral
4647 service; now, therefore, be it
4748 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4849 Legislature hereby commend Dr. Robert McDonald on his achievements
4950 as superintendent of the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene and
5051 extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
5152 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5253 prepared for Dr. McDonald as an expression of high regard by the
5354 Texas House of Representatives.
