 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The men's track and field team of South Plains
 College claimed the mantle of national champion by placing first in
 the National Junior College Athletic Association Indoor Track and
 Field Championships, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 6
 and 7, 2015; and
 WHEREAS, The Texans captured titles in four individual
 events, with triumphant performances being turned in by Odean Skeen
 in the 60-meter dash, Jereem Richards in the 400-meter dash, Jacob
 Clark in the 800-meter race, and Michael Samuels in the heptathlon;
 notching another important win for the school, Antibahs Kibiwott
 Kosgey, Marcus Davis, Carlos James, and Isaac Clark joined together
 to eclipse formidable competition in the 4 x 800-meter relay,
 posting a time of 7 minutes, 46.56 seconds; and
 WHEREAS, These talented athletes were guided by head coach
 Chris Beene and associate head coach Blaine Wiley, who were named
 Men's and Women's Head Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the
 Year, respectively, by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
 Coaches Association following their team's outstanding showing at
 the NJCAA meet; and
 WHEREAS, The success of the South Plains College track and
 field program is a source of tremendous pride to the institution's
 students, faculty, alumni, and supporters, and the members of the
 title-winning men's squad may take great pride in furthering their
 school's tradition of athletic excellence; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the South Plains College men's
 track and field team on winning the national title at the 2015 NJCAA
 Indoor Track and Field Championships and extend to all those
 associated with the team sincere best wishes for continued success;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Texans as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
