| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sweeny Community Hospital is marking the 50th |

| 6 | 7 | | anniversary of its founding on March 29, 2015, and this milestone |

| 7 | 8 | | provides an ideal opportunity to recognize this noteworthy |

| 8 | 9 | | institution; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In 1963, the Sweeny Hospital District was formed by |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the Texas Legislature in southwestern Brazoria County, following a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | decade-long effort on the part of the community to increase health |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | care accessibility in rural areas; on March 29, 1965, Sweeny |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Community Hospital opened its doors, and it has since expanded its |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | services, staff, and facilities to continue to meet the needs of the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | region; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Sweeny Community Hospital is a 24-hour operational |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | critical access hospital that offers both inpatient and outpatient |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | care; a member of the Texas Hospital Association and the Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, it serves as a Level IV |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Trauma Center and houses 20 beds, a dedicated surgical suite, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | more than a dozen outpatient clinical services; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The hospital is staffed by a team of highly |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | qualified medical professionals, including four primary care |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | providers who coordinate treatment for patients at all life stages; |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | referrals can additionally be made to 11 on-site specialists, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | providing patients with an exceptional continuum of care at one |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | location; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Local residents are further served by the Fountains |

| 29 | 30 | | Assisted Living Facility, situated next to the main hospital |

| 30 | 31 | | campus, as well as the Wellness Center, the Kittie Nash Groce |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Rehabilitation Center, and the Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric |

| 32 | 33 | | Center; moreover, West Brazos EMS is the only hospital-based |

| 33 | 34 | | emergency response team in Brazoria County with a medical intensive |

| 34 | 35 | | care unit, offering security and peace of mind to those in its |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | service area; and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, For half a century, Sweeny Community Hospital has |

| 37 | 38 | | distinguished itself as a resource of inestimable value to the |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | region, and members of its skilled and dedicated staff are to be |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | commended for the difference that they have made in the lives of |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | countless area Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|---|
| 42 | 43 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sweeny |

| 43 | 44 | | Community Hospital and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 44 | 45 | | institution sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
