45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Students from Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus
67 Christi made a fine showing at the Texas High School State Mock
78 Trial Competition held in Dallas from March 5-7, 2015; and
89 WHEREAS, Established in 1979, the competition is
910 administrated by the Dallas Bar Association and organized through
1011 the 20 Texas Education Agency Regional Service Centers;
1112 approximately 2,000 students take part each year; and
1213 WHEREAS, Two Incarnate Word seniors earned honorable
1314 mention; Joshua Rasmussen was recognized in the outstanding
1415 advocate category and Pedram Salamat was recognized in the
1516 outstanding witness category; also contributing to the team effort
1617 were student attorneys Michelle Ndwaru and Julio Ramos, student
1718 witnesses Sofia Aguirre, Sean Dinh, Taylor Jones, Alma Oliva Tamez,
1819 and Gabriella Vargas, and timekeeper Janel Soliz; and
1920 WHEREAS, Participation in this challenging academic contest
2021 requires hard work and many hours of preparation, and the team from
2122 Incarnate Word Academy has brought credit to the school through its
2223 noteworthy performance; now, therefore, be it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2425 Legislature hereby congratulate the Incarnate Word Academy team on
2526 its accomplishments at the 2015 Texas High School State Mock Trial
2627 Competition and extend to its members sincere best wishes for
2728 continued success; and, be it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3031 House of Representatives.
