45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jeanette Palmire retired as a patrol officer with
67 the Bellaire Police Department on March 7, 2015, concluding an
78 exemplary career that spanned 32 years; and
89 WHEREAS, When Officer Palmire joined the department in 1983,
910 it had only one other female member, and for much of her tenure, she
1011 held her own in an otherwise all-male environment; she played a
1112 major part in developing the department's Field Training Officer
1213 program during the 1980s, and it became a model for other agencies;
1314 and
1415 WHEREAS, Officer Palmire demonstrated exceptional skill and
1516 dedication as a patrol officer, and she turned down several
1617 opportunities for promotion or special assignment in order to
1718 remain in that role; always ready to help out wherever and whenever
1819 needed, she brightened the days of her coworkers with her kind and
1920 easygoing manner, and she was a caring mentor to many younger
2021 officers; and
2122 WHEREAS, Through her steadfast commitment to public safety,
2223 Officer Palmire set a high standard to which others may aspire,
2324 while earning the lasting respect and appreciation of her
2425 colleagues and fellow citizens alike; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Officer Jeanette Palmire on her
2728 retirement from the Bellaire Police Department and extend to her
2829 sincere best wishes as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of
2930 her life; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Officer Palmire as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
