| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jeanette Palmire retired as a patrol officer with |

| 6 | 7 | | the Bellaire Police Department on March 7, 2015, concluding an |

| 7 | 8 | | exemplary career that spanned 32 years; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, When Officer Palmire joined the department in 1983, |

| 9 | 10 | | it had only one other female member, and for much of her tenure, she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | held her own in an otherwise all-male environment; she played a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | major part in developing the department's Field Training Officer |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | program during the 1980s, and it became a model for other agencies; |

| 13 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Officer Palmire demonstrated exceptional skill and |

| 15 | 16 | | dedication as a patrol officer, and she turned down several |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | opportunities for promotion or special assignment in order to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | remain in that role; always ready to help out wherever and whenever |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | needed, she brightened the days of her coworkers with her kind and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | easygoing manner, and she was a caring mentor to many younger |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | officers; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through her steadfast commitment to public safety, |

| 22 | 23 | | Officer Palmire set a high standard to which others may aspire, |

| 23 | 24 | | while earning the lasting respect and appreciation of her |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | colleagues and fellow citizens alike; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Officer Jeanette Palmire on her |

| 27 | 28 | | retirement from the Bellaire Police Department and extend to her |

| 28 | 29 | | sincere best wishes as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
