| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Natalie Beasley of Buna High School placed first at |

| 6 | 7 | | the 29th annual Protégé High School Art Competition and Exhibition, |

| 7 | 8 | | which was held in Beaumont on February 27, 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1986, this competition is aimed at |

| 9 | 10 | | encouraging high school seniors from around the Golden Triangle to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | create original artwork; out of some 140 submissions this year, 26 |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | pieces were selected for inclusion in a traveling art show, which |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | will be displayed at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas as well as at |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | regional school libraries; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Beasley earned first place with her entry, a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | graphite drawing entitled Sissy, and received a scholarship to the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Lamar University Art Department as well as a gift certificate for |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | art supplies; she is a student of Buna High art instructor Keith |

| 18 | 19 | | Hoke; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Natalie Beasley has distinguished herself among the |

| 20 | 21 | | many talented young artists who entered this competition, and she |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | is indeed a source of great pride to her family and her school; now, |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Natalie Beasley on winning the 2015 |
