| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Joseph Daniel Bock of the Corpus Christi |

| 7 | 8 | | 1987, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A 13-year veteran of the CCPD, Sergeant Bock was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | involved in a 10-mile pursuit of a suspect who refused to yield for |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | a traffic stop; after crashing his vehicle, the violator, who was |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | later found to have been involved in a burglary, attacked Sergeant |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Bock, fatally shooting him; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Sergeant Bock was |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | survived by his wife and two daughters; the legacy of this dedicated |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | public servant was honored by the community he so ably served with a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | park that was named in his memory; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |

| 18 | 19 | | courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Sergeant Bock, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; |
