| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Corpus Christi celebrated its |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The 125th Rotary Club to be chartered worldwide, the |

| 8 | 9 | | Corpus Christi chapter was established in 1914 with 36 founding |

| 9 | 10 | | members; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Its mission is to create a meaningful fellowship of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | business and professional leaders who are dedicated to making a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | positive difference in their community through service, and over |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the last 100 years, members have left a lasting legacy in Corpus |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Christi; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Rotarians have volunteered innumerable hours and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | provided untold resources to programs benefiting the community; |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | such worthwhile projects include conducting vaccination clinics, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | assisting with the placement of children through their Adoption |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Awareness Picnic, contributing to the Salvation Army's Red Kettle |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | campaign, and providing grant funds of more than $650,000 for |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | preservation projects through the Harvey Weil Sportsman |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Conservationist program; the club commissioned the "Queen of the |

| 23 | 24 | | Sea" sculpture in the downtown area and installed a town clock in |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Heritage Park; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The group also demonstrates a commitment to |

| 26 | 27 | | promoting excellence in education, and it has funded scholarships |

| 27 | 28 | | at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College; |

| 28 | 29 | | moreover, it has recognized the achievements of top area high |

| 29 | 30 | | school students and provided leadership training to young adults in |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | South Texas with its Rotary Youth Leadership Award Program; and |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, On the international front, the club has helped |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | people in Mexico, Fiji, and Honduras through a number of health, |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | housing, and literacy initiatives and has contributed to Rotary's |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | PolioPlus program, which works to eradicate polio; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the Rotary |

| 36 | 37 | | tradition, the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi has greatly enhanced |

| 37 | 38 | | the lives of countless people throughout its century-long history, |

| 38 | 39 | | and this significant milestone provides a fitting opportunity to |

| 39 | 40 | | recognize it; now, therefore, be it |

| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 41 | 42 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi |

| 42 | 43 | | on its 100th anniversary and honor its members, past and present, |
