No. 168 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Joe Carlyle of Troup, the 2014 president of the Texas Association of Builders, indeed merits special recognition for his notable service; and WHEREAS, As president, Mr. Carlyle was responsible not only for overseeing the leadership and staff of the Texas Association of Builders, but also for representing the interests of the organization's 9,500 member firms; he worked diligently to protect the positive building environment and affordable housing prices in Texas, and in so doing, he strengthened his industry and brought home ownership within the reach of many first-time buyers; and WHEREAS, Before his election as president, Mr. Carlyle served as secretary and as first vice president of the Texas Association of Builders, and he continues to guide the organization as its immediate past president for 2015; and WHEREAS, Highly respected in his field, Mr. Carlyle has owned and operated Carlyle Homes for more than two decades, having previously worked for his family's building supply company and a large lumber business; he received his education at Tyler Community College and The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is also active in his community; he currently is a member of the Troup City Council and the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee, and he has held leadership positions with the National Association of Home Builders and the Tyler Area Builders Association, which named him Builder of the Year in 1998; he has further benefited his fellow citizens as a volunteer firefighter, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Tyler Junior College Alumni Board; and WHEREAS, Through his commitment to excellence and his dedication to the building community, Joe Carlyle sets an inspiring example of leadership, and he has earned the respect and admiration of all who know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby honor Joe Carlyle for his achievements as president of the Texas Association of Builders and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Carlyle as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
