| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Joe Carlyle of Troup, the 2014 president of the |

| 6 | 7 | | Texas Association of Builders, indeed merits special recognition |

| 7 | 8 | | for his notable service; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, As president, Mr. Carlyle was responsible not only |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | for overseeing the leadership and staff of the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Builders, but also for representing the interests of the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | organization's 9,500 member firms; he worked diligently to protect |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the positive building environment and affordable housing prices in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Texas, and in so doing, he strengthened his industry and brought |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | home ownership within the reach of many first-time buyers; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Before his election as president, Mr. Carlyle |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | served as secretary and as first vice president of the Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Association of Builders, and he continues to guide the organization |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | as its immediate past president for 2015; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Highly respected in his field, Mr. Carlyle has owned |

| 20 | 21 | | and operated Carlyle Homes for more than two decades, having |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | previously worked for his family's building supply company and a |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | large lumber business; he received his education at Tyler Community |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | College and The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is also active in his community; |

| 25 | 26 | | he currently is a member of the Troup City Council and the Tyler |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee, and he has |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | held leadership positions with the National Association of Home |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Builders and the Tyler Area Builders Association, which named him |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Builder of the Year in 1998; he has further benefited his fellow |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | citizens as a volunteer firefighter, a Sunday school teacher, and a |

| 31 | 32 | | member of the Tyler Junior College Alumni Board; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Through his commitment to excellence and his |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | dedication to the building community, Joe Carlyle sets an inspiring |

| 34 | 35 | | example of leadership, and he has earned the respect and admiration |

| 35 | 36 | | of all who know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby honor Joe Carlyle for his achievements as |

| 38 | 39 | | president of the Texas Association of Builders and extend to him |
