| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Professional golfer Esteban Toledo has been a |

| 6 | 7 | | stellar performer on the links, and he has further distinguished |

| 7 | 8 | | himself through his many charitable works; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Mexicali, Mexico, Mr. Toledo began his |

| 9 | 10 | | career in 1986 and has enjoyed notable success at various levels of |

| 10 | 11 | | competition over the past three decades; he has excelled as a member |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | of the Mexican professional golfing circuit, capturing eight tour |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | wins, including the 2000 Mexican Open; moreover, he has proudly |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | represented his home country six times in international play at the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This talented athlete has also played alongside some |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | of the top golfers in the world on the PGA Tour, and he won the Lake |

| 17 | 18 | | Erie Charity Classic in 2005 while competing on the Nationwide |

| 18 | 19 | | Tour; in 2013, Mr. Toledo became the first Mexican-born golfer to |

| 19 | 20 | | win a Champions Tour event when he triumphed in a playoff at the |

| 20 | 21 | | Insperity Invitational; later that same year, he once again |

| 21 | 22 | | prevailed in playoff holes to win the Montreal Championship; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Committed to making a positive difference in the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | lives of others, Mr. Toledo established the Esteban Toledo Family |

| 24 | 25 | | Foundation in 2013 to help provide children around the world with |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | such basics as food, shelter, and education; by raising funds |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | through private donations and a charity golf tournament, the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | organization has supported a range of worthwhile projects, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | including its recent effort to construct a children's dormitory |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | that will offer a safe and comfortable living space for orphans in |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | the Mexicali area; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Esteban Toledo has proven himself an athlete of rare |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | dedication and ability as well as an admirable individual who gives |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | back to those in need, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for |

| 34 | 35 | | his many achievements; now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commend Esteban Toledo for his accomplishments |

| 37 | 38 | | as a professional golfer and as a philanthropist and extend to him |

| 38 | 39 | | sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
