| 8 | 9 | | League 2A Cross-Examination Debate State Meet held on March 16 and |

| 9 | 10 | | 17, 2015, at The University of Texas at Austin; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis and Mr. May eclipsed their opponents in |

| 11 | 12 | | district cross-examination debates to qualify for the state |

| 12 | 13 | | tournament; there, the partners debated the resolution "The United |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | States federal government should substantially increase its |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth's oceans" |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and made an impressive showing by advancing to the octafinals; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated |

| 17 | 18 | | tremendous skill in the art of debate and public speaking, and |

| 18 | 19 | | through their talent and commitment to excellence, they have |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | brought great distinction to themselves and to West Hardin High |

| 20 | 21 | | School; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 22 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Christian Lewis and Brett May on |
