9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Newton High School Class of 1958, |

10 | 11 | | Conley Todd graduated with a bachelor of business administration |

11 | 12 | | degree from Lamar University in 1962; he subsequently attended the |

12 | 13 | | Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist |
---|
13 | 14 | | University and the American Bankers Association National |
---|
14 | 15 | | Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Todd began working in the banking industry at |
---|
16 | 17 | | First Security National Bank in Beaumont in 1960, when he was a |
---|
17 | 18 | | junior in college; hired in 1962 by IBM as a data processing |
---|
18 | 19 | | representative, he returned to First Security National in 1966 as |
---|
19 | 20 | | vice president of marketing data processing services; eight years |
---|
20 | 21 | | later, he assumed the reins of Citizens National Bank as president; |
---|
21 | 22 | | and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In 1981, Mr. Todd went into business for himself as |
---|
23 | 24 | | a consultant, providing such services as loan review, capital |
---|
24 | 25 | | planning, policy writing, training, and due diligence studies; |
---|
25 | 26 | | while continuing in that role for more than two decades, he also |
---|
26 | 27 | | held management positions at a number of banks; he became the |
---|
27 | 28 | | southwest regional manager of Hibernia National Bank in Orange in |
---|
28 | 29 | | 1998, and he went on to serve as interim president of Mauriceville |
---|
29 | 30 | | National Bank in 2002 and as senior vice president of Orange Savings |
---|
30 | 31 | | Bank later that year before accepting the position of senior vice |
---|
31 | 32 | | president of First Financial Bank; and |
---|
32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has further distinguished |
---|
33 | 34 | | himself through his involvement in a variety of professional and |
---|
34 | 35 | | community organizations; he has held membership in the Independent |
---|
35 | 36 | | Bankers Association of Texas, the American Bankers Association, and |
---|
36 | 37 | | the Sabine-Neches Bankers Association, and he has given generously |
---|
37 | 38 | | of his time and talents in behalf of the Newton Lions Club, the |
---|
38 | 39 | | Newton Chamber of Commerce, the Deep East Texas Development |
---|
39 | 40 | | Association, Rotary Club International, and Boys' Haven; moreover, |
---|
40 | 41 | | he is a valued congregant of First United Methodist Church of |
---|
41 | 42 | | Newton; and |

42 | 43 | | WHEREAS, Retirement will undoubtedly afford Mr. Todd the |
---|
43 | 44 | | opportunity to spend more time with his beloved family, including |
---|
44 | 45 | | his wife of 52 years, Gadelle Todd, his daughters, Meredith and Amy, |
---|
45 | 46 | | and his six grandchildren, as well as to indulge in his favorite |
---|
46 | 47 | | leisure activities of golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking, and |
---|
47 | 48 | | traveling; and |
---|
48 | 49 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his banking career, Conley Todd upheld |
---|
49 | 50 | | the highest standards of his profession, earning the respect of |
---|
50 | 51 | | colleagues and customers alike, and he may indeed reflect with |
---|
51 | 52 | | pride on a job well done as he embarks on the next exciting chapter |
---|
52 | 53 | | of his life; now, therefore, be it |

53 | 54 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

54 | 55 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Conley Todd Jr. on his retirement |

55 | 56 | | from First Financial Bank and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
