| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Jonathan Sosa of the Arlington Police |

| 6 | 7 | | Department has deservedly been presented with a Police Officer's |

| 7 | 8 | | Award for his heroic actions in the line of duty; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, While on routine patrol, Officer Sosa noticed smoke |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | in the roadway and quickly ascertained that it was coming from a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | nearby duplex that had caught on fire; he immediately notified the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | residents of the adjoining unit, helping four adults and two |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | children to escape the blaze unharmed; he then kicked in the door of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the burning residence, but he was unable to enter due to the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | intensity of the flames; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Officer Sosa subsequently contacted the occupants |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | of neighboring homes, making them aware of the fire and helping them |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | to evacuate as well; no citizens were injured as a result of the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | fire, thanks in large measure to the tenacity and quick thinking of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | this dedicated public servant; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Every day, the peace officers of Texas come to the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | aid of individuals in dangerous situations, and in providing vital |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | aid in an emergency, Officer Jonathan Sosa has exemplified the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | highest ideals of his profession; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commend Officer Jonathan Sosa on his receipt of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the Police Officer's Award from the Arlington Police Department and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | important work; and, be it further |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
