| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Vital to the communities they serve, promotores work |

| 9 | 10 | | tirelessly for preventive care and wellness among the most |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | vulnerable and underserved residents in minority populations; |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | moreover, they help raise awareness for the early detection and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | treatment options for a range of illnesses as well as for pain and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | disease management; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, These dedicated specialists, caregivers, and |

| 15 | 16 | | patient navigators integrate education about general health and the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | public health care system into a diversity of cultures, languages, |

| 17 | 18 | | and value systems, improving access to health care, social |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | services, and insurance statewide; in addition, they conduct |

| 19 | 20 | | outreach programs in residences, community centers, clinics, |

| 20 | 21 | | hospitals, schools, worksites, and shelters, as well as at local |

| 21 | 22 | | events, faith-based settings, and social service organizations; |
