6 | 7 | | comfort the loved ones of Dr. Karen Hicks-Alldredge of Sweetwater, |

7 | 8 | | who passed away on March 9, 2015, at the age of 62; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Karen Hicks was born on March 19, 1952, to Delores |
---|
9 | 10 | | Audis and Orville Hicks in Farmington, New Mexico; she grew up in |
---|
10 | 11 | | Window Rock, Arizona, in the Navajo Nation, and graduated from high |
---|
11 | 12 | | school in Aberdeen, South Dakota; after earning a degree in |
---|
12 | 13 | | environmental science and chemistry from Northern State University |
---|
13 | 14 | | in 1974, she went to work for the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife |
---|
14 | 15 | | Department; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1983, she obtained her doctoral degree in |
---|
16 | 17 | | veterinary medicine from Iowa State University and began practicing |
---|
17 | 18 | | in Midland; additionally, she participated in graduate programs in |
---|
18 | 19 | | theriogenology at the University of Illinois and at Texas A&M |
---|
19 | 20 | | University; she moved to Sweetwater in 1993 and worked alongside |
---|
20 | 21 | | her husband, Dr. Bud Alldredge, at Sweetwater Veterinary Hospital, |
---|
21 | 22 | | where she was known for the kindness that she showed to both animals |

22 | 23 | | and their owners; and |
---|
23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hicks-Alldredge was committed to serving her |
---|
24 | 25 | | community as well; she led her local Rotary Club for a term as |
---|
25 | 26 | | president and was honored by the organization as a Paul Harris |

26 | 27 | | Fellow; she was also devoted to her faith as a member of the |
---|
27 | 28 | | Presbyterian Church; and |

28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A professional of great skill and compassion, Karen |

29 | 30 | | Hicks-Alldredge touched countless lives, and she will forever hold |

30 | 31 | | a treasured place in the hearts of those she leaves behind; now, |
