| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 103rd birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and World War II veteran Leon Evans of |

| 7 | 8 | | Trinity is marking this special milestone in his life on April 11, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2015; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1912, Mr. Evans came of age during the war |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and served his country in the United States Army Air Forces as a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | mechanic from 1942 to 1945; he went through basic training at Dale |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Mabry Army Air Base in Tallahassee, Florida, and at a base in South |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Carolina, and he was stationed in New Guinea; as he likes to say, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | his service lasted exactly three years, three months, and eight |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | days; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Today, Mr. Evans remains in good health, and he can |

| 17 | 18 | | be seen driving his pickup truck around town; every week, he |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | generously mows the lawn for the Presbyterian Church; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A respected member of the community, Leon Evans is a |

| 20 | 21 | | source of tremendous inspiration, and in sharing the experience |

| 21 | 22 | | gained through more than a century of life well lived, he bestows a |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who are fortunate enough |

| 23 | 24 | | to know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Leon Evans on his 103rd birthday |
