| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A 100th birthday is indeed cause for celebration, |

| 6 | 7 | | and Florence Terry McGinnis of Lake Jackson marked this significant |

| 7 | 8 | | milestone in her life on March 25, 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Freeport in 1915, Flo McGinnis grew up with |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | five siblings and graduated from Freeport High School in 1933; she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | married Michael McGinnis that same year, and the couple enjoyed |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | more than five decades together; they raised three sons, and today |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the family includes 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 5 |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | great-great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, For a number of years, Mrs. McGinnis worked as a |

| 15 | 16 | | dental assistant in Lake Jackson and as a hospital receptionist in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Freeport, and she and her husband later lived in Smithville; since |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the death of Mr. McGinnis in 1985, Mrs. McGinnis divides her time |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | between her children's homes in Lake Jackson and Killeen; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, This beloved centenarian attributes her longevity |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | to her love of chocolate, and she is well-known for her ready smile |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | and special ability to make everyone around her feel appreciated; |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | she is one of the founding members of First Baptist Church in Lake |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Jackson, and she continues to be a valued part of the congregation; |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with the affection of a host of loved ones |

| 26 | 27 | | and sustained by her strong faith, Florence McGinnis has gracefully |

| 27 | 28 | | reached the century mark and continues to enrich the lives of all |

| 28 | 29 | | who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
