| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Monsignor Leo Wleczyk of St. Michael the Archangel |

| 7 | 8 | | his ordination on May 27, 2015; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Brazosport area, Leo Wleczyk |

| 9 | 10 | | attended St. Mary's Seminary and began his parish service at |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | St. Mary Catholic Church in Port Arthur; he subsequently served at |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston, St. Joseph Catholic |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Church in Baytown, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine, and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Notre Dame Catholic Church in Houston before becoming monsignor and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | pastor of St. Michael's in 1984; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated clergyman has implemented many |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | programs for spiritual enrichment at St. Michael's, among them |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | RENEW, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the youth |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | ministry, and ENVISION; in addition, he has guided the expansion of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | facilities to meet the changing needs of the parish; a new education |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | wing and nursery were constructed in 1985, and subsequent |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | improvements, including the Family Life Center, provided space for |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus, and St. Vincent de Paul; in |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | 2000, the two-story Spiritual Learning Center was completed; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Monsignor Wleczyk was dean of the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Southern Deanery, and in 2008, he was appointed episcopal vicar for |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the Southern Vicariate by Daniel Cardinal DiNardo to serve as his |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | representative for approximately 30 parishes; he also benefits the |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | wider community as an active member of the Brazosport Ministerial |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Alliance, and he is an ardent supporter of religious vocations and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | the pro-life ministry; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Monsignor Wleczyk has wholeheartedly committed his |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | talents and energies to serving the parish of St. Michael the |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Archangel Catholic Church, and his leadership over the past 50 |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | years has provided inspiration and guidance to many in his |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | community of faith; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Monsignor Leo Wleczyk on the joyous |

| 38 | 39 | | occasion of the 50th anniversary of his ordination and extend to him |
