| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Beatrice Trevino has been elected commander of the |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The first woman to lead this post, Bea Trevino |

| 8 | 9 | | served her country in the United States Army and Army National Guard |

| 9 | 10 | | for 21 years and received numerous awards; her tours of duty |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | included assignments in Bosnia and Germany, and she was deployed |

| 11 | 12 | | during Desert Storm; over the course of 11 years as a member of Post |

| 12 | 13 | | No. 241, she has served as house committee chair, adjutant, |

| 13 | 14 | | historian, and first vice commander; she represents the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | organization in the Angleton Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan also belongs to the American |

| 16 | 17 | | Legion Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the local |

| 17 | 18 | | chapter of the Disabled American Veterans; within the American |

| 18 | 19 | | Legion, Department of Texas, she has served as historian for the |

| 19 | 20 | | Third Division and as a member of the Ninth District Color Guard; |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Since her retirement from the armed forces, |

| 22 | 23 | | Ms. Trevino has worked with such nonprofit organizations as the |

| 23 | 24 | | Brazoria County Alliance for Children and the Children's Advocacy |

| 24 | 25 | | Center of Brazoria County; she is a graduate of the Angleton Police |

| 25 | 26 | | Department's Citizen Police Academy, and she has participated in |

| 26 | 27 | | the activities of its alumni association; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Bea Trevino has given generously of her time and |

| 28 | 29 | | talents in behalf of her fellow veterans and the citizens of |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Angleton, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition at |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | this time; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
