R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Annie Mucheru-Garza of Garcia Elementary School in
Corpus Christi received fitting recognition when she was named 2015
Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Corpus Christi Independent
School District; and
WHEREAS, A native of Nairobi, Kenya, Ms. Mucheru-Garza
studied at Del Mar College and earned her bachelor's degree from
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2011; and
WHEREAS, In her work as a fourth-grade teacher at Garcia
Elementary, Ms. Mucheru-Garza integrates technology into her
lessons as a way to keep her students engaged; in one lesson about
communication, her class shared a Skype conversation with
Ms. Mucheru-Garza's sister in Africa; and
WHEREAS, Annie Mucheru-Garza exemplifies the passion,
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
best teachers, and she is inspiring in her students a love of
learning that will serve them well throughout their lives; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Annie Mucheru-Garza on being named
Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Corpus Christi Independent
School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Mucheru-Garza as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
