45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, John Jordan, a senior on the Texas A&M
67 University--Corpus Christi men's basketball team, set a new
78 standard of excellence on the hardwood on March 7, 2015; and
89 WHEREAS, In a late-season matchup against Abilene Christian
910 University, Mr. Jordan compiled 11 points and 6 rebounds in a 58-27
1011 victory for the Islanders; in the process, he surpassed 1,500
1112 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists for his collegiate career,
1213 becoming the only active Division I basketball player in the
1314 country to have reached that milestone; and
1415 WHEREAS, Mr. Jordan's notable accomplishment was made all
1516 the more special by the fact that he was able to complete the feat on
1617 Senior Day in front of a raucous home crowd at the American Bank
1718 Center; a four-year starter for the Islanders, he previously earned
1819 All-Southland Conference honors and the university's Male Athlete
1920 of the Year award during his impressive junior season; and
2021 WHEREAS, This remarkable student-athlete's skills on the
2122 basketball court are an inspiration to his team, his fellow
2223 students, and the Corpus Christi community, and it is indeed
2324 fitting that he be recognized for his significant achievement; now,
2425 therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate John Jordan on compiling more than
2728 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists during his collegiate
2829 career and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success;
2930 and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Mr. Jordan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3233 House of Representatives.
