H.R. No. 1780
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Seven members of the Silsbee High School boys'
basketball team were honored for their exceptional play during the
2014-2015 season by being included in the 24-4A All-District awards
selections; and
WHEREAS, Junior Travoris Grubbs was named Defensive Player of
the Year after averaging 6.4 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 6 blocked
shots per game, and he also benefited his team on the other end of
the court with his skill as a shooter; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of their outstanding on-court
performances, sophomore Michael McCain and junior Dontre Thomas
were chosen for the All-District First Team, while sophomores
Trajan Harris and Kolten Mackey were selected for the Second Team;
freshman Kalon Barnes and sophomore Bruce Newton received honorable
mention nods; and
WHEREAS, The All-District awards provide fitting
acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to
excellence demonstrated by these exemplary student-athletes, and
they may take justifiable pride in their achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the All-District basketball
players from Silsbee High School and extend to them best wishes for
continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the players as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
